Romi Hitchcock-Tinseth

Lecturer

Biography:

I'm Romi ("row-me", she/her). I've taught Communication courses for 35+ years, at Humboldt, College of the Redwoods, Oregon State University, Western Oregon University, Linn Benton Community College, and Chemeketa Community College. I LOVE what I do, and am thankful for the opportunity to explore new topics and perspectives with students every day. My husband, Glenn Tinseth, and I met while attending Humboldt State (on the ultimate frisbee team), we graduated together and completed our graduate work at Oregon State University. We lived in Oregon for many years, then spent a year volunteering with an educational service project in Colima, Mexico, through Rotary International (living the Humboldt Grad Pledge), and then returned to teach for Cal Poly Humboldt, where we both teach in our undergrad departments (Comm and Chemistry). We have two daughters who both attended Humboldt.

I love running/hiking, mt. biking, time outdoors, hitting the road in "Bodie" our 4WD Volkswagen Vanagon, camping, travel, family/friend meals, doing service and social justice advocacy work, and teaching.

I'm thankful everyday to have returned to the community and university I love, and to be able to spend my days with Humboldt students and colleagues!
